Advanced Flameworking Class: Sculpting a Glass Chain Necklace
Borosilicate Glass | One-Day Intensive Class Size: Max 2 students Push the boundaries of your glasswork in this advanced-level class at Sage Studios, where you’ll learn to create a fully functional glass chain necklace—link by link, flame by flame. This project challenges your precision, patience, and technical control as you shape, connect, and anneal a wearable glass chain made from borosilicate glass. It’s a meditative and rewarding process that will elevate your sculptural and structural skills to the next level. What you’ll learn:
Designing and planning a glass chain layout
Forming consistent, clean, and uniform links
Timing and flame control for shaping and sealing loops
Linking pieces seamlessly during the flamework process
Annealing considerations for strength and durability
Optional color work and texturing techniques
Attaching a clasp or incorporating an all-glass closure
You’ll leave class with a handmade, one-of-a-kind glass chain necklace—sculptural, wearable, and entirely your own (after kiln time). Class Length: About 2 hours Ages: 14+ Prerequisite: Advanced borosilicate experience (confident with precision torchwork and handling heat-sensitive joins)
Classes are held on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays. To register, contact Sage at 315-576-2412 or email [email protected]
